Kick up some mud at an ATV Mud Bog!

What happens when a bunch of ATV riders put on their ATV mud tires and find some mud? A mud bogging event, of course, and for some unlucky ATV riders, a mud run! The annual Stoughton, SK sports day featured mud fun for a few dozen ATV riders, and a few thousand spectators.

The mud bog event begins with a drivers' meeting, so everyone knows the rules. Drivers line up on the edge of the mud track as their numbers are drawn--the mud run is timed, with the fastest time across declared the winner.

ATVs hit the mud with enough speed to get them into the bog far enough that the drivers are going to get muddy, either from flying mud or the run to the finish line if their ATV bogs down stuck in the mud! This youngster was one who made a mud run.

Bogged down ATVs are winched out by another ATV. At the Stoughton event ATVs without mud tires usually ended up this way. Drivers can be any age in the mud bogs, with this young mud bogger making his way across the mud.

These two mud boggers are reaching the end of the course, and wearing a lot of the mud. The one sure thing about a mud bog event is that ATV drivers and spectators will all be lined up for the next one!
