Blair Morgan: Snocross 2002-03 Champion
Story by Linda Aksomitis

The 2002-03 duel of snocross superman Blair Morgan and boy wonder, Tucker Hibbert, over the moguls and
through the switch-backs was one of the most exciting seasons in snocross history.
When the final races were won, it was Morgan and his Ski-Doo driving away
with 2 championships, both the Pro Open and Pro Stock.
Hibbert was able to
savor his last victory in snocross in what sports moderators call "Truly a race, a battle, for the history books"
in Lake Geneva, WI. Record numbers of fans, in 70 degree temperatures, were treated
to this final no-holds barred race between the sport's top drivers, as it began with
Morgan already holding the season championship for points. With both of them leading
the race at different points, Hibbert emerged from the final corner to capture the
checkered flag. Much to the surprise of the snocross world, however, he announced his
retirement from the sport to concentrate on motocross at the season finale presentations.
Hibbert's retirement from Arctic Cat and snocross leaves everyone speculating
that Ski-Doo will completely rule snocross in the upcoming season. Ski-Doo already won
the SWC Manufacturer's Championship this year, which is based on combined season's
points of the top two riders in points per manufacturer. Will Arctic Cat or Polaris
be able to pull some top performance drivers and sleds out in time for the new season, or
will the big classes of Pro Open and Pro Stock be one, two, three Ski-Doo with
Morgan, Kuster and Island, who showed growing strength through this season?
